Under the supervision of the HSE Manager, the HSE Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific health, safety, and environmental operations.
The HSE Officer is the primary contact for employees and supervisors concerning safety-related matters , is responsible for the initial creation of risk assessments and assisting with standard operating procedures from a HSE perspective. This includes but is not limited to risk management activities, health surveillance, HSE inductions and training programmes, contribute to incident investigation and analysis. The HSE Officer provides resources and information to employees and management as needed.
HSE Officer Responsibilities
* Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Officer will assist in generating and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the site.
* Supporting the HSE Manager in ensuring the site is compliant and adhering to all company policies, procedures, initiatives, and statutory legislation.
* Helping to maintain ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 accreditations whilst continually improving the systems.
* Administrative duties such as organising meetings, monitoring, and updating communications, ensuring all documentation and records are complete and accurate in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
* Collate HSE data and populate our in-house systems with appropriate information to enable the collection of KPI information for month end reporting.
* Be able to conduct toolbox talks as well as deliver HSE induction for new starters
* Ensuring hazard reporting actions and feedback is achieved in a timely and accurate fashion.
* Assist in the undertaking of incident investigation and process the associated documentation in a timely manner.
* Assist in the HSE related training and guidance of staff in new working methods, procedures, and instructions.
* Prepare/assist in Health, Safety & Environmental internal audits.
* Liaise with other departments (Quality, Production, Engineering) as necessary particularly regarding actions for completion. Assist with general administration associated with the HSE departmental function.
* Carry out any other duties within the limits of training and capability.
* Any other additional duties and responsibilities commensurate with level of skill, knowledge and experience.
HSE Officer Requirements
* Proven ‘hands on’ HSE experience within in a manufacturing environment.
* NEBOSH qualified and Environmental qualification preferred.
* A strong systems focused individual with proven experience in HSE related management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
* Sound IT skills including use of the SHE management system and Microsoft Office package with the ability to quickly learn new skills and become familiar with new software packages.
* Positive, friendly, driven attitude with an outgoing personality.
* Able to communicate well with both shop floor and senior stakeholders alike
