Overview
Element Materials Technology is a leading testing, inspection and certification business that helps customers make sure their products, materials and processes are safe, compliant and fit for purpose. This is a Business Development Manager position focused on named accounts within a specific geographic region. The role is responsible for pursuing sales opportunities and selling the full breadth of Element services within assigned accounts to meet the assigned budget while supporting strategic or key accounts in the territory.
Responsibilities- Establish and proactively maintain strong professional relationships with key decision makers and influencers within assigned accounts.
- Focus on winning new business and driving profitable sales expansion by acquiring new and re‑engaging dormant accounts while growing existing clients.
- Gather and analyze market and industry intelligence, metrics and trends to determine customer needs and identify early opportunities in the sales cycle.
- Deliver business development presentations, negotiate and close business with nominated accounts in coordination with local business development resources.
- Lead access and persuasion steps in the sales process, including qualifying, relationship building, needs evaluation, solution development/presentation and closing.
- Actively utilize CRM to record activities, maintain accurate contact details, remove duplicates and enter call/visit logs.
- Participate in regular pipeline reviews, ensuring all CRM records are up to date and critical success factors are identified for key opportunities.
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of Element’s service offerings; participate in training and coaching opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all Element policies and applicable laws related to safety, environment and corporate governance.
- 10 years of technical experience with sales responsibilities.
- 5+ years of sales experience in a fast‑paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or other relevant four‑year degree; preferred.
- Experience in testing, metallurgical or composites; plus knowledge of interpreting testing procedures and requirements is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications and CRM systems (Dynamics AX, CRM, Word, Excel).
- Availability to travel up to 75% of the time, with some overnight travel required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
