About the Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you’ll work directly with individuals experiencing multiple and complex needs, providing tailored support. You’ll empower people to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to sustain their tenancies and move towards independent living. You will be based within our central offices, however frequent travel is required throughout Sheffield to support your caseload.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist people when moving in and out of Target accommodation to set up their utilities, rent and other bill payments.
  • Assist people to maximise their income and manage their personal budgets.
  • Enable and support the people to deal with conflict and disputes with others.
  • Monitor properties to ensure that these have not been abandoned or damaged and take prompt action when it happens to avoid unnecessary costs or delays.
  • Complete comprehensive risk assessments, support plans, and safety plans.
  • Motivate and empower people to achieve personal goals.
  • Support development of coping strategies and positive behaviours.
  • Design and deliver engaging activity programmes focused on independence and wellbeing.
  • Encourage people involvement in shaping services and activities.
  • Participate in reflective practice and case reviews to ensure engagement with support, achievement of outcomes and movement towards positive move on.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with data protection standards.
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies including safeguarding, ASB teams, police, probation, Likewise and CMHT to ensure multidisciplinary working and risk management.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience supporting individuals with multiple complex needs.
  • Ability to engage “hard to reach” clients.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience with risk assessment and support planning.
  • Knowledge in areas such as mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, brain injury, or welfare benefits.
  • Understanding of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP).
  • Experience of lone working and managing risk.
  • IT literacy for case recording and reporting.
  • A flexible, proactive approach.

Essential:
Full UK driving licence and access to a roadworthy vehicle along with business insurance.
