Salary: £8.00 per hour/ £15,434.27 per annum from 1 st April 2026, for all ages in their first year of the apprenticeship. The National Minimum Wage as appropriate to age is then paid for the remainder of the apprenticeship contract following completion of the first year. Rotherham Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice – Outreach and Engagement Worker to join our Best Start Family Hubs Outreach and Engagement Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience while working towards a recognised qualification, supporting families across Rotherham to access services, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
As part of the Outreach and Engagement Team, you will help increase awareness and participation in Family Hub services, particularly among families who may face barriers to accessing support. You will work alongside experienced professionals to deliver practical support, assist in facilitating activities and engage with communities across the borough.
About the roleYou will:
- Support the promotion and delivery of Family Hub services across Rotherham.
- Assist with engagement activities, events and group sessions for children, young people and families.
- Provide practical support to families through individual and group-based work.
- Help families access the right support at the right time through effective signposting and partnership working.
- Assist with customer enquiries, administration and record keeping.
- Use a range of IT systems to maintain accurate information and support service delivery.
The role will involve working in community settings across the borough and occasional evening or weekend working to meet service needs.
About youWe are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in working with children, young people and families.
- Is passionate about supporting vulnerable families and improving outcomes.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Can organise their time effectively and work reliably.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Has basic IT skills or a willingness to learn.
- Can travel across the borough as required.
The ability to speak an additional community language, such as Urdu or Roma, would be desirable but not esssential.
