Housing / Domestic Abuse Support About the Role We are recruiting for an experienced Domestic Abuse Worker to join a dedicated Domestic Abuse Service in Kirklees. This is an exciting opportunity to combine operational leadership with hands-on support, helping individuals and families rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment. You will oversee the day-to-day running of a refuge service while providing high-quality housing management and support to residents.
Working alongside the Service Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the service delivers positive outcomes and maintains high standards of support, safeguarding and service delivery. This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. From supporting residents to secure long-term accommodation and independence, to leading safeguarding responses, developing staff and strengthening partnerships with external agencies, you'll have a direct impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Key Responsibilities Provide practical and emotional support to individuals affected by domestic abuse. Complete needs and risk assessments and develop person-centred support plans. Support service users to access safe accommodation and maintain housing stability. Assist clients in accessing benefits, healthcare, legal services, education, training, and employment opportunities. Develop and maintain effective safety plans to reduce risk and promote wellbeing. Support individuals to increase confidence, independence, and resilience.
Advocate on behalf of service users with external agencies, including housing providers, social care, police, and health services. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, support plans, and outcome monitoring information. Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, safeguarding meetings, and case reviews. Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, reported, and managed in line with organisational policies and procedures. Build positive professional relationships with partner agencies and stakeholders.
Person Specification Essential Experience & Skills Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, homelessness or other complex needs. UK Driver's Licence Previous experience supervising or leading staff within a support or housing environment. Strong knowledge of housing management and tenancy sustainment. Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures and trauma-informed practice. Ability to build effective relationships with residents, colleagues and external partners.
Excellent communication, organisational and case management skills. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
Desirable Experience working within refuge or supported accommodation services. Knowledge of local housing pathways and support services.
