This is a key leadership role within the service, providing direct operational management, professional supervision, and practice oversight to Youth Justice staff. The successful candidate will play a vital role in driving high-quality practice, supporting staff development, and ensuring positive outcomes for children, young people, families, victims, and communities.

About the Role

As a Youth Justice Practice Supervisor, you will provide leadership and guidance to practitioners managing complex cases, ensuring that assessments, interventions, plans, and reviews are completed to a high standard and in line with legislation, statutory guidance, and council policies.

You will promote a culture of excellence, restorative practice, and continuous improvement, supporting staff to deliver evidence-based interventions and effective multi-agency work that reduces offending and improves life chances for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Support practitioners to manage complex caseloads, undertake assessments, and develop needs-led intervention plans.
  • Oversee the preparation, implementation, and review of care plans, support plans, risk assessments, and intervention programmes.
  • Ensure children, young people, parents, carers, and victims receive appropriate information and support to make informed decisions.
  • Promote participation, inclusion, self-advocacy, and positive outcomes for service users.
  • Support staff in responding effectively to behavioural difficulties, vulnerabilities, safeguarding concerns, and risk management issues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording, reporting, and case management in line with policy and good practice standards.
  • Foster effective multi-agency partnerships and challenge non-delivery or barriers to achieving positive outcomes where appropriate.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, performance management, workforce development, and service improvement activities.
  • Support service delivery across a range of settings, including community and outreach provision.
