Job description

Directorate:
Children and Young People Services

Temporary fixed term, Full time, 37 hours per week

Rotherham's Family Hubs provide welcoming and inclusive spaces where children, young people and families can access the right support at the right time, helping every child to have the best possible start in life and thrive within their community. As part of our continued commitment to improving outcomes for families, we are looking to recruit four passionate, skilled and committed Best Start Inclusion Practitioners (BSIP) to join our Family Hubs Team.

As a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner, you will play a vital role in promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for babies, children and young people, with a focus on children with additional needs and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working alongside families, communities and partner agencies, you will provide early intervention, targeted support and practical guidance, helping families to access the right support at the right time and reducing barriers to participation, development and achievement.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and families across Rotherham, supporting our ambition to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive, reach their potential and be fully included in their community.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with children and families, delivering evidence-based interventions and helping families navigate services and support pathways.

  • Work directly with children and families in homes, Family Hubs and community settings to identify strengths, needs and opportunities for support.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and practical advice to improve children's development and family wellbeing.
  • Plan and facilitate inclusive groups and activities, including sensory sessions, stay and play opportunities and parenting interventions.
  • Support families to access universal, targeted and specialist services, ensuring equitable access for all.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to provide coordinated support and remove barriers to participation.
  • Champion inclusive practice and provide guidance to colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Build trusting relationships with families using a strengths-based, child-centred and inclusive approach.

We are looking for enthusiastic practitioners who:

  • Have experience of working with children, families and communities.
  • Has a strong understanding of child development, inclusion and early intervention.
  • Is skilled in building positive relationships and supporting families to achieve meaningful change.
  • Has experience of multi-agency working and understands the importance of coordinated support.
  • Can manage their own workload, use initiative and respond effectively to changing situations.
