The Department of Applied Economics at Erasmus School of Economics invites applications for a six-year tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Urban and Regional Economics. The research group on Urban and Regional Economics is embedded in the group of Organisation, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship at Erasmus School of Economics. Preferred starting date is September 2020.
Job Description & Requirements: As an assistant professor, your role will include undertaking research within the field of Urban and Regional Economics or related research fields such as Transport Economics, International Economics, Development Economics or Economic Geography. You have the ability to conduct high quality, original research and to publish in high-ranked international journals. You will contribute to the courses in the BSc and MSc programmes offered by the department of Applied Economics and the supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses.
This calls for excellent teaching skills and the ability to supervise students to a successful completion of their programme. Successful applicants are near completion or have completed a Ph.D., are able to demonstrate the potential for outstanding achievements in research and teaching, and are team players. A tenure decision will be made after five years, with the possibility of extension in case of pregnancy.

Conditions of Employment: The appointment initially is a six-year position. The conditions of employment comply with the ‘CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten/Collective Agreement Netherlands Universities (CAO NU)’. Salary will be within the range of salary scale 10 when not having obtained PhD, to salary scale 11 for a full time appointment. The Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8.0%, and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
The salary includes several secondary benefits (such as a pension plan that is partially funded by the university and health care insurance). Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants. We offer opportunities for lecturers to further develop teaching skills, and obtaining teaching qualifications.
