Support the execution of all project Health & Safety related activities
As a Project Health & Safety Manager, you are responsible for the Health & Safety agenda within our customer projects. You will develop and ensure the implementation of Project Health & Safety Plans in accordance with NKT standards as well as applicable rules, regulations, legal frameworks and customer requirements.
This role combines leadership and hands‑on work. You will not only manage the Health & Safety effort on projects but also actively contribute to producing, reviewing and ensuring timely submission of all Health & Safety deliverables needed for effective project execution.
Your scope spans the full Health & Safety landscape: including participating in and coordinating risk assessments, supporting project planning, conducting Health & Safety inspections and audits, monitoring subcontractor performance, reporting to the customer, and managing interfaces with stakeholders across the entire project organisation.
Regular visits to operations are an essential part of the role whether at installation sites, on board vessels, or at subcontractor facilities ensuring active engagement, compliance and support.
Responsibilities
Developing, reviewing, approving and submitting all project Health & Safety deliverables (plans, bridging documents, RAMS reviews, emergency plans, HAZID’s, audits and reports) in accordance with deadlines
Monitoring, reporting and record‑keeping of Health & Safety risks, non‑conformities, KPI’s and statistics
Planning and following up on allocated Health & Safety resources within the project
Participating in project planning to ensure proactive integration of Health & Safety measures and risk controls
Conducting and overseeing project Health & Safety audits, both internally and towards subcontractors
Establishing and monitoring Health & Safety performance and reporting results to the customer
Coordinating and monitoring subcontractor Health & Safety performance and ensuring alignment with NKT and client requirements
Leading or supporting Health & Safety incident investigations
Facilitating workshop sessions to promote organisational learning, share lessons learned and help implement continuous improvement
Acting as the project Health & Safety interface on designated projects, towards clients, subcontractors, vessel owners and internal departments
Supporting and coaching the project team and subcontractors in creating a strong safety culture
Ad‑hoc support on tenders relating to operational insights and actual cost or compliance issues
Reporting lines
Report directly to the Dept. Manager, HSE Projects & Tenders (Project Performance and deliverables)
Have an operation (functional) reporting line to the Project Installation Managers (day‑to‑day coordination and integration into project execution)
Manage Project Health & Safety Advisors, guiding and coordinating their activities across all work sites
Be a communicative and motivated Health & Safety project manager. Your daily collaboration with the project team, subcontractors and customers requires effective communication and stakeholder management skills. Your motivated, positive, and focused mindset supports genuine engagement within the teams. You adopt a supportive and coaching approach that helps guide the project safely while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Your profile
University degree within Engineering, Health & Safety or Security
Several years of relevant experience within HSE, preferably from international infrastructure, offshore wind, marine or construction projects
Experience interfacing with clients, subcontractors and multidisciplinary internal teams
Experience conducting Health & Safety audits and leading workshops for learning
Project management experience in an international context
Fluent in English and French, both spoken and written
Authorisation to work in the Netherlands
(Advantage) Offshore certificates such as GWO, BOSIET/FOET or HUET
(Advantage) NEBOSH Cert. or NEBOSH Dip. or any industry alternative.
