Job requirements
A Marine Master and or Marine Engineering degree with a minimum of three years of experience on board vessels or within the shipping industry, or possession of a Masters license or Chief Engineer license or Maroff license with at least two years of sea service as a Master or Chief Engineer Officer or 1st Maroff. Alternatively, a minimum of two years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent and or Vessel Manager in another shipping company.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and policies.
Strong safety awareness and commitment to safety protocols.
Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage tasks autonomously.
Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.
Extensive knowledge of the marine industry, including relevant rules, regulations, and best practices.
Strong understanding of purchasing procedures and budget cost control.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and innovative ideas.
Proficiency in computer programs used within the company structure.
Solid operational knowledge of the assigned vessel types.
Demonstrated ability to maintain high performance standards with a strong sense of motivation and commitment.
Job responsibilities
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels.
Implement and monitor compliance with the Company’s Safety Management System in relation to shipboard and departmental activities.
Oversee the technical performance and operational conditions of assigned vessels.
Ensure sound financial management and cost control measures.
Arrange and oversee repairs, modifications, and dry‑docking procedures.
Ensure that all vessels maintain full certification in accordance with statutory, international, and environmental regulations.
Prepare technical reports in compliance with the Safety Management System requirements.
Promote and cultivate a strong safety culture and environmental awareness on board assigned vessels.
Provide technical and operational support to shipboard management.
Conduct daily reviews to ensure the proper operational status of the Planned Maintenance System (DNV Ship Manager).
Perform technical inspections on assigned vessels, submitting at least one Vessel Condition Report annually.
Conduct pre‑joining briefings for Masters and Chief Engineers on vessel‑specific matters and recent developments.
Monitor and review periodic technical documentation submitted by vessels, ensuring proper follow‑up and closure.
Assess the competency of Masters and Chief Engineers for service on Nav‑Tech‑managed vessels.
Implement and oversee the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM).
