This position reports to:

Chapter Lead__In Electrification Business – Smart Power Division, we are looking for a technically deep Global Application Engineer who brings advanced technical knowledge combined with a customer and application-driven mindset. You thrive at the intersection of emerging technology feasibility and real-world commercial applications, translating breakthrough concepts into viable business opportunities for Smart Power.

You will bridge the gap between R&D innovation and market reality, working in our 'Emerging Technologies, Applications and Segments' innovation team within the agile unit Innovation and Common Modules. In this role, you will partner with Principal R&D Engineer and Technology Advisor peers, with responsibilities shifted based on the team’s knowledge and each member’s experience. Contribute to the vision of electrification solutions with a 3–8 year timeframe, grounded in deep technical understanding of technology trajectories, feasibility, and division strategy.

Investigate global macrotrends in emerging technologies, applications, and segments; shape innovation strategy and roadmap with technical feasibility assessments and strategic recommendations for ELSP leadership.

Develop reference architectures and technical frameworks for emerging applications and use cases, translating technology trends into actionable system design concepts.

Conduct technology benchmarking and competitive technical analysis, identifying critical gaps and opportunities against Smart Power's current capabilities.

Develop the ELSP ecosystem of key partners and customers through collaboration and knowledge exchange, piloting novel applications and validating both technical feasibility and market viability.

Design and facilitate technical workshops with internal teams, customers, and partners to explore and validate emerging technology concepts and innovation hypotheses.

Perform technical feasibility studies and proof-of-concept definitions, assessing technical maturity (up to TRL2), scalability, and applicability to Smart Power's portfolio.

Contribute to technical documentation and innovation briefs, translating findings into clear strategic recommendations for stakeholders and leadership, while supporting a collaborative team environment with R&D and Technology Advisor peers.

Your background:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical;
PhD is a plus.
5+ years of experience in the electrical field.

Extensive experience with power electronics, microgrids, data center technologies, or comparable advanced electrical systems, including practical work in proof-of-concept development and technology validation.

Demonstrated stakeholder management ability in multicultural environments, combined with communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Strategic thinker, comfortable translating complex technical concepts into business opportunities and recommendations.

Agile mindset; proficiency in written and spoken English.
