Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Chane, everything revolves around the safe, reliable and efficient storage and transshipment of liquid bulk goods. Our terminals play a crucial role in the international supply chain of vegetable oils, fats, oleochemicals and chemical products. Safety always comes first.
To further strengthen our ambitions in the field of safety, we are looking for a Process Safety Specialist. In this role, you actively contribute to building a strong Process Safety Management system and help our organization better understand, control and learn from risks.
You work closely with our HSEQ teams, operations and engineering. Together, you ensure that safety remains firmly embedded in everything we do.
Where will you be working?
Chane operates in multiple European ports and forms an important link in the international supply chain. From our headquarters, you will collaborate with colleagues across different disciplines and regularly visit our terminals. You will be part of the central HSEQ team and report to the HSEQ Director. In this role, you combine strategic and hands‑on work. You develop standards, guide analyses and support terminals with complex safety challenges.
Representative activities
As a Process Safety Specialist, you are part of the Corporate HSEQ team. You are the authority in the field of process safety within our international organization. You develop, implement and safeguard corporate policies related to process safety, with the goal of minimizing risks across our terminals and meeting the highest safety standards.
You work closely with engineering to ensure reliable process safety information is available and help further strengthen Chane’s HSE backbone. You are also an important sparring partner for our terminals and HSEQ teams. You guide incident investigations and root cause analyses and ensure that we continue to learn from incidents and near misses as an organization.
You assess and support risk analyses such as HAZOP, LOPA and bow‑tie studies and contribute to Management of Change processes and Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews.
Beyond your technical expertise, you play a key role in strengthening our proactive safety culture. You act as an expert and coach for our local teams, helping to increase awareness, ownership and consistent safety behavior across the organization. Driving cultural change is an essential part of this role, where you support teams in embedding safety into daily decision making and ways of working.
In addition, you contribute to further developing knowledge and capabilities within the organization by creating training and workshops and supporting teams in applying risk analysis methodologies and embedding control measures in practice.
What Do You Bring To The Table
You combine strong technical expertise with the ability to engage and guide people in safety related topics. You understand that sustainable safety performance goes beyond systems and processes and requires a strong, proactive safety culture.
A Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Technology or similar
Approximately 10 to 15 years of experience in the process industry
At least 5 years of experience in a process safety focused role
Experience with methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, SIL and incident investigation

Strong in stakeholder management from shop floor to senior management
Able to clearly explain complex technical topics
Experienced in driving behavioural and cultural change within organizations
Comfortable acting as a coach and influencing teams without formal authority

What Do We Offer
At Chane, you will work in an organization that is continuously developing and where safety plays a central role.
A key role in further strengthening process safety within Chane
An international working environment with terminals in multiple European ports
An excellent benefits package with an annual salary between €110K and €130K
