Senior Naval Architect

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Naval Architect to support complex offshore and marine engineering projects in the Rotterdam region. In this position, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of technical solutions related to floating structures and marine systems. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to projects from early concept phases through detailed engineering, ensuring solutions are practical, safe, and fit for purpose.

Important:
We are specifically looking for professionals who are already based in the Netherlands. In addition, recent hands‑on experience with the NAPA software package is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize naval architectural solutions in accordance with project requirements, applicable regulations, and recognized industry practices.

Perform technical studies and engineering activities related to vessel stability, weight management, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and structural integrity.

Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation within agreed schedules.

Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant international standards, class requirements, and client specifications.

Coordinate technical interfaces between naval architecture activities and other engineering disciplines involved in the project.

Identify opportunities for design improvements and incorporate lessons learned into ongoing and future project execution.

Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, classification societies, and other external stakeholders during design and execution phases.

Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, offshore campaigns, testing activities, and commissioning when required.

Take ownership of specific work packages and provide technical guidance to junior engineers where appropriate.

Contribute to planning activities and support the successful delivery of engineering milestones.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.

A minimum of 5 years of experience within the offshore, marine, or oil & gas industry in a naval architecture-related role.

Demonstrated experience with concept development and detailed engineering of floating offshore systems or marine structures.

Strong understanding of stability assessments, weight control, marine analyses, and system integration principles.

Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments and coordinating with external parties.

Familiarity with classification rules and international marine standards is considered an advantage.

Recent practical experience using NAPA is essential. Candidates without up‑to‑date NAPA experience will not be considered.
