Job Description & How to Apply Below
Alfa Laval Ocean Glide is a unique air lubrication solution with fluidic technology. It creates an even and controllable air layer across the entire flat bottom of the vessel, which is the best setup for reducing friction between the hull and the water. The proven reduction in drag means greater energy efficiency, lower fuel costs and less CO² emitted into the atmosphere.
Along with reduced marine noise, these factors make Ocean Glide an important step towards more sustainable shipping.
As a Performance Engineer you are the technical specialist supporting the optimization of the system performance.
- Plan test campaigns to verify the performance of the system on board.
- Analyze performance data. Gather conclusions and make suggestions to further improve the performance of the system.
- Provide internal feedback to engineering on system improvements, based on data analysis.
- Contribute to the development of Alfa Laval Ocean Glide monitoring platform.
- Develop methods to optimize and improve the system performance while vessel is in operation.
- Contribute to the development of standards to verify and demonstrate the performance of air lubrication systems, in collaboration with industry partners.
- Collaborate with third parties to verify performance on board.
- Contact point for the performance monitoring team at shipowner side.
- Generate reports and presentations for internal and external distribution.
- Possibility to attend sea trials occasionally.
- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or comparable.
- At least a few years of relevant working experience.
- Familiar with topics: ship performance, propeller-hull interaction, ship resistance, sea trials, hydrodynamics.
- Preferably familiar with topic of air lubrication.
- Experience with Python programming, preferably related to data science/analysis.
- Good communication skills.
- Good analyzing and reporting skills.
