In this role, you will design and deliver secondary systems for high- and medium-voltage substations and grid connections , covering protection, control, SCADA and auxiliary systems.
You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from engineering and design through testing and commissioning, working closely with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Your responsibilities Produce secondary engineering deliverables including SLDs, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists and panel layouts
Specify and select equipment such as protection relays, CTs/VTs, switch gear auxiliaries, PLC, RTU and SCADA systems
Develop and validate protection and control philosophies
Perform engineering calculations and prepare relay setting files
Prepare and support FAT and SAT procedures
Ensure compliance with IEC/EN standards, Dutch grid codes and QHSE requirements
Coordinate with primary, civil and telecom engineers to ensure complete technical interfaces
Support installation, testing and commissioning activities
Review as-built documentation and support customer handover
Coordinate suppliers and panel builders, including technical reviews and factory acceptance testing
Act as a technical partner to customers, clarifying requirements and presenting engineering solutions
Your background Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Protection & Control , or a related discipline
Minimum 4 years of experience in secondary engineering for substations or industrial power systems
Strong knowledge of protection and control systems
Experience with concepts such as:
Differential protection
Distance protection
IEC 61850
Protection relay configuration
FAT / SAT
Experience working from design through commissioning
Ability to work independently within multidisciplinary project teams
Strong technical documentation and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
Dutch is a strong advantage
