About Nearfield Instruments
Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing scale-up high-tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enables our customers - the world’s leading chip makers – to increase the production yields, and thus, functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics.
Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 380 employees) in science and technology and develop a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.
In an AFM system (like the Quadra of NFI), probes (the measurement needles) are a crucial element. Probes have a limited lifetime and thus are a consumable, which need regular supply, to prevent unavailability of the measurement tool. Therefore, probes supply is an essential element of the service to our customers.
Each probe has individual characteristics (resonance frequencies, stiffness, etc.) which are important parameters to tune the measurement process with that specific probe. These characteristics should be measured when probes are delivered to our customers.
As probes characterization technician you play an important role in the daily operations for probes delivery. You will be responsible for handling the incoming probes, performing incoming inspections. Operating the equipment to measure the probe characteristics and register the outcomes. Finally, you have to prepare the probes for shipment.
Next to that, you will fulfil an important role in process optimisation. By identifying possibilities for improvement and validating changes to the process and/or the equipment.
