About the Role
As the Global Industrial Hygiene Manager, you are Alcoa’s senior technical authority for industrial hygiene. In this enterprise‑wide role, you will lead the global framework that helps our mining, refining, smelting and supporting operations understand, control and continually improve how occupational exposure risks are managed.
Lead and govern Alcoa’s global industrial hygiene standards, procedures, tools and exposure assessment methodology.
Provide expert technical leadership for complex, high‑consequence and emerging occupational exposure risks across diverse operations and jurisdictions.
Use exposure data, health risk assessments, assurance findings and regulatory trends to establish global priorities for hygiene risk reduction.
Influence practical exposure‑control strategies, with a focus on elimination, substitution, engineering controls and critical control effectiveness.
Build global capability through coaching, technical networks, professional practice expectations and the sharing of good practice across regions and locations.
Support assurance activities, benchmarking and continuous improvement to strengthen occupational health risk visibility and decision‑making across Alcoa.
This role can be based at any of the following preferred locations, including Perth, Montreal, or Rotterdam. Applicants should be willing to work from one of these locations on a permanent basis. International travel will also be required a few times per year.

What You Can Bring To
The Role
Tertiary qualifications in industrial or occupational hygiene, or a related discipline.
A recognised professional hygiene certification, such as Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Occupational Hygienist, Registered Occupational Hygienist, Fellow or Member of relevant professional body with certification pathway, or an equivalent credential.
Significant professional experience in industrial hygiene, preferably including experience within mining, metals or other complex operational environments.
Experience leading hygiene programmes across multiple sites, regions or business units, with global exposure highly regarded.
Technical knowledge across exposure assessment, data quality, audit, assurance, risk assessment and critical control management.
Clear communication skills and the ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships across cultures and locations.
