Repair and Tool Technician role at The Home Depot
. The position involves the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. Technicians provide equipment recommendations and ensure units are maintained. In a store, technicians will work in Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers, providing service to store customers in Tool Rental, which includes writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, checking that tools are operating properly, and demonstrating proper use as needed.

In non-store locations, technicians will ensure units are repaired, tested for the quality of the repair and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store. Technicians must have a thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.

• In-store responsibilities: service customers in Tool Rental, write customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verify tool operation, and demonstrate proper use when needed.
• Maintain day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department.
• In non-store locations: ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all tools and manage tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.

• Thorough knowledge of tools and the ability to repair and maintain equipment.

• Good customer service skills to assist store customers in Tool Rental and repairs.
