Your Role at Baxter
The Senior Principal Engineer, Electrical will lead the development of creative electrical solutions to challenging problems in the design of monitoring and sensing products within the medication delivery portfolio. The successful candidate will have strong technical capabilities, enthusiasm for product development, and a passion for their work and its impact on patient outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing- Define design requirements and hardware specifications based on customer or user requirements.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of electronic system architectures.
- Lead the creation of designs of analog and digital electronic circuit schematics for microcontroller-based systems, meeting performance objectives.
- Analyze circuits using calculation and simulation to assess performance limits, environmental and load stresses, and timing interfaces to ensure safety-critical performance.
- Ensure successful integration of electrical design with mechanical and software elements of the system.
- Develop, modify, and approve electrical design documentation, specifications and drawings.
- Define appropriate test methods to verify designs meet performance requirements.
- Direct the layout of circuit assemblies to meet emissions and immunity requirements and design for manufacturability guidelines.
- Transition products to manufacturing and ensure robust products and processes.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external development partners.
- Resolve competing constraints between interrelated functions required to deliver the product to market.
- Implement data acquisition and analysis techniques to characterize design performance.
- Execute protocols and testing to validate safety and effectiveness of the design(s).
- Lead troubleshooting and problem solving related to electrical aspects of devices and systems.
- Create and communicate design/test plans, tasks, work and status.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics or related Engineering and 10+ years of experience.
- A demonstrated track record in electromechanical hardware development, preferably medical devices or other regulated products.
- Knowledge and experience in design of embedded microcontroller-based electronics devices, including digital and analog design.
- Experience designing and testing electronic devices to meet electromagnetic immunity and emissions requirements.
- Knowledge and experience using CAD systems for PCB schematic design and layout (Altium Designer, preferred) and data acquisition software (LabVIEW).

We understand compensation is an important factor. This position has a salary range of $120,000 to $165,000 and includes an annual incentive bonus. The actual salary may vary based on factors including skills/experience, time in role, business line, and geographic location.
