The Texas public vocational rehabilitation (VR) program helps people with disabilities prepare for, obtain, retain, and advance in employment. The TWC is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) Trainee - Sr VRC to join the VR Department located at 575 Round Rock West Dr, Round Rock, Texas.

Responsibilities- Assist eligible individuals with disabilities to prepare for, retain, obtain, and/or advance in competitive, integrated employment; help students transition from high school to postsecondary education and employment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, businesses, employers, and schools.
- Collect and analyze information to make accurate eligibility decisions (e.g., medical, school records, employment records).
- Assist customers in choosing appropriate employment by assessing strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, and interests; align with current job market.
- Help consumers develop a plan of services to achieve identified employment goals.
- Ensure timely, cost-effective provision of services and progress toward employment goals.
- Develop and implement processes leading to successful job placement.
- Apply best value purchasing practices and use available benefits and services to optimize public funds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree with major in Rehabilitation Counseling or Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from an accredited college or university; OR Master’s degree with major in counseling or related fields plus one year related work experience; OR Master’s with other majors plus two years related work experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with related major plus one year related work experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with related majors plus two or three years related work experience depending on major.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to vocational rehabilitation. No experience required.
All levels may apply based on education, credentials, and experience. Travel up to 30% is required; candidates must arrange their own travel. Some positions require lifting up to 10 pounds. A copy of official transcripts, certifications, and credentials will be requested at interview.
