We are currently searching for an experienced Junior Structural CAD Technician to support our Southwest Region located in Texas
.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field and 3 years of prior experience with structural drafting.
What You’ll Be Doing- Provide assistance to engineers using Open Bridge Designer to create bridge detail plans and perform minor design work on bridge projects
- Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
- Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
- Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Road Designer and Open Bridge Designer
- Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
- Research design options and document findings
- Coordinate assignments with project team and supervisor
- Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Be a team player and assist other groups as needed
- Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
- 3-10 years of prior experience with structural and/or roadway drafting
- Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred
- Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual and TxDOT Bridge Standards
- Experience in Open Road Designer is preferred
- Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
