Job DescriptionThe Behavioral Health Counselor will provide therapeutic mental health services to adults, children, youth and families throughout Williamson and Burnet Counties.
Services will be provided in accordance with best‑practice standards, evidence‑based interventions and individualized recovery planning. Counseling will occur in BTCS facilities/offices, in person, or via Tele‑Video as approved by the Counseling Supervisor.
Possible duties include participation in and/or leadership of community education, outreach events, groups, workshops, classes, and courses.
Therapies may include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma‑Focused CBT, CBT with Psychosis, Play Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
The Counselor will manage a counseling caseload spreadsheet and referral assignment lists, complete clinical assessment screenings, intake assessments, hospital discharge follow‑ups, substance use disorder brief counseling sessions, SBIRT assessments, and diagnostic mental health evaluations.
Additional responsibilities: assess eligibility, develop recovery plans, coordinate services, complete crisis assessments, record trainings, and document within 24 hours of service completion. Maintain a minimum of 55% billable time per hour worked starting the 4th month of employment.
Differential Detail- 0.75 /hr – Bilingual
- Up to 2.00 /hr – Previous experience with a Texas community center in a similar role
- Up to 4.00 /hr – Tenure with BTCS
- 1.00 /hr – PhD
- 0.50 /hr – Licensed Clinical Doulas Center (LCDC)
- $200 Monthly Service Delivery Bonus

- Salary Amount: $66,144.00 – $83,304.00 per year

- Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution and current licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- or a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or related field and licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- LCSW clinical licensure preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Two years working with individuals with severe mental illness
- Experience across the lifespan, willingness to learn and provide CBT, TF‑CBT, CPT and/or play therapy in a community clinic setting
- Experience with individuals, groups and families preferred
- Excellent organizational, time‑management and communication skills required
- Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
