Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Registered Dietitian, you will provide medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients via nutrition screenings, assessments, consultations and counseling sessions. You will be responsible for nutritional management and care of patients according to physician diagnoses. You will prepare appropriate documentation and follow-up for same. Your responsibilities will include performance improvement and assisting in the department, if needed. You will review the interdisciplinary screening process and assign a priority level of risk for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets.
  • Conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations.
  • Identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients' records.
  • Assist the Food Service Department Dietary Aides with patient food selection and which foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet.
Qualifications
  • 1 year of clinical nutrition experience in an acute care hospital setting – preferred.
  • Previous hospital inpatient and outpatient experience with emphasis on diabetes, cardiac, ICU, and geriatric experiences.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with successful completion of American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program.
  • Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential or eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 6 months of initial employment.
  • Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians within 6 months of initial employment.
  • Williamson County Health Department Food Handler Permit – preferred.

St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is a 200+ bed acute-care facility located north of Austin, Texas.
