Medical Technologist – St. David's Health Care, Round Rock, TX
Job SummaryAs a Medical Technologist, you will perform moderate and high‑complexity testing, analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results, and ensure specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures.
Responsibilities- Complete moderate and high‑complexity testing and follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient result records.
- Correctly receive specimens, print labels, and enter and verify patient data without errors.
- Operate and troubleshoot test systems.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
- Ensure test selection and reference ranges are age‑appropriate.
- Ensure timely availability of laboratory results.
- Perform quality control activities appropriate to each assay performed and respond appropriately to outlier results.
- Participate in proficiency testing activities in each applicable technical area.
- 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience in an acute care setting – preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Graduation from an accredited medical technology program, 50‑week military training course, or equivalent resulting in eligibility to take the registry exam in medical technology (Clinical Laboratory Science).
- Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP, NCA, AMT, or evidence of a passing registry exam score within 1 year of hire.
Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience; preference for blood bank and generalist exposure in an acute care environment.
Education- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Accredited clinical rotation or internship, or 50‑week military training course, or equivalent.
- Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) with ASCP, NCA, AMT, or proof of a passing registry exam score within 1 year of hire.
