Patient Service Specialist - Medical Front Office

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation, Central TX.

Patient Service Specialist (PSS) – Float position. Must travel to multiple outpatient clinics (Manor, Mueller, Angus, Tech, Hutto, Round Rock).

Full Time. Hours vary Monday to Friday 7am–7pm.

Entry-level position. Salary $18–$25 per hour based on experience; compensation depends on experience and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient appointments, working with the Center Manager to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete with signatures and accurate information documented in the electronic medical record.
  • Verify patient insurance, obtaining required authorizations before patient visits and explaining benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies.
  • Collect copay at each visit.
  • Scan and maintain medical documents.
  • Reconcile and post charges daily and other reporting to ensure clean claim processing.
  • Respond to all requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
  • Maintain office, order supplies, and manage mail.
  • Willingness to adjust schedule to center needs.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and in‑service education programs.
  • Travel to non‑home location center or other site for coverage when necessary.
  • HS Diploma or GED is required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of insurance verification
  • Healthcare, medical, or dental office administration experience
