Registered Nurse (RN) – The US Oncology Network
Full‑time position (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm). No weekend or call shifts and no major holidays. The role can be Level 1, 2, or Senior depending on experience.
Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. The RN demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences in the patient population and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and treat patient and family needs while supporting the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
MainResponsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients and reviewing medical history.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and psychosocial support.
- Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time, and technique.
- Facilitate dose modification by reviewing labs, consulting protocols, calculating doses, and coordinating with physicians.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line devices.
- Manage medication refill requests from the pharmacy line and record them in the patient chart.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information.
- Assist patients in locating community resources.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Registered RN with current state license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 0–3 years nursing experience, preferably with at least one year in oncology/infusion.
- IV skills preferred.
- Oncology certification or experience preferred.
- 3–5 years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology.
- Five years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology.
Typical work environment of an oncology clinic: exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical RequirementsRequires full range of motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 40 lb. Requires normal vision and hearing.
