St. David’s South Austin Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse for Cath Lab Prep and Recovery on a PRN basis. The role supports the cath lab team, ensuring patient safety and smooth peri‑operative processes.

Job Summary

The position involves evaluating patients before surgery, providing education, managing pre‑operative medications, performingＭ surgical site verification, and delivering high‑quality care during the recovery phase. The nurse works within a dynamic interdisciplinary team, responding to emergencies, monitoring patients, and documenting changes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients before surgery.
• Educate patients and families about the procedure and peri‑operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative Compostela medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
  
  Stay‑in‑scenario.
• Deliver patient‑centered care, managing evidence‑based practices and improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of the interdisciplinary team with providers, surgeons, technologists, and others.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership for safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
Registered Nurse (AD) licence within 60 days of employment start date.
• Registered Nurse Diploma.
