Overview

Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician (Overnight) at United Veterinary Care. Position at Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital - Round Rock.

The Emergency & Critical Care Technician is responsible for providing outstanding patient care and exceptional client service while working with doctors and shift leadership to address patient care needs.

Essential

Functions & Responsibilities
  • Triage of critical patients
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient history, treatment estimates, and admitting and discharging of patients
  • Restrain animals for examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Perform venipuncture
  • Monitor anesthesia and recover patients post-operatively
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in work areas
  • Perform basic kennel duties as required
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with doctors and clients regarding their patients' needs
Schedule
  • Overnight shift (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Initial training days:
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
  • After training, workdays:
    Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Overtime and Saturdays may be required
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician experience is required
  • Licensure is preferred but not required
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can effectively deal with them when stressed, ill, or in pain
  • Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds and work on feet most of the day
  • Excellent customer service, computer, and phone etiquette skills
  • Ability to bend, stand, stoop, walk, and stand for extended periods
  • Required to lift up to 40 pounds
