Role overview:
Shortage Control Associate (SCA) contribute to a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service. Your presence at store entrances, exits, and high-risk areas helps mitigate theft and create a safe shopping experience. You will engage with customers and associates in a manner consistent with company core values, providing a confident, friendly, and energetic greeting with eye contact and a smile at every interaction.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, wear the designated dress standards, radio and earpiece, and stand at the front of the store with vigilance.
- Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting to promote a sense of control and security.
- Create a secure environment and reduce opportunities for theft and dishonest activities.
- Identify and report theft incidents and/or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
- Possess knowledge of top shortage areas and programs aimed at theft reduction.
- Effectively communicate theft prevention information during store rallies, collaborating with the Manager on Duty.
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards.
- Understand the role in keeping the store and assets safe and secure.
- Provide support in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Role-model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly.
- 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations (preferred).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to visually monitor the store environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
- Ability to exhibit a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting; able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
- Excellent communication with customers and co-workers; strong leadership skills to foster productive business relationships.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
