Reporting to the Metallurgy Superintendent of Technical Services, you will work closely with other metallurgists and technicians as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on technical support and project development.

The group’s work is divided into three main categories:

  • Project development – studies of satellite zones, assessments of exploration portfolio potential, economic analyses (PEA, PFS), and evaluations of external mining prospects for potential acquisition.
  • Operational support.
  • Research and development – innovation initiatives in collaboration with groups such as IRME, COREM, and MISA.

Using your technical knowledge and experience, you will propose value‑added solutions to project development in order to optimize their economic value, participate in the development of new technologies, act as a facilitator for their implementation at sites that may benefit from them, build business relationships and mentor metallurgists from various divisions.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:
  • Representing the metallurgy team as a process leader in multidisciplinary projects by attending team meetings, coordinating project activities, and supervising colleagues or contractors to ensure task completion within deadlines and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Providing mentorship to colleagues across the company on specific topics.
  • Sponsoring and supporting research, development, and innovation activities in partnership with organizations such as Corem, MISA, and IRME.
  • Preparing and leading team meetings.
  • Selecting, planning, and coordinating metallurgical tests to be carried out at our CSD facilities or external laboratories.
  • Analyzing test results and preparing reports to define design criteria and support the selection of processes and equipment.
  • Producing material balances, metal recovery models, and projections of unit reagent consumption.
  • Participating in project risk analyses.
  • Conducting comparative economic trade‑off studies, including CAPEX and OPEX.
  • Preparing engineering documents such as schedules, budgets, project charters, requests for proposals, and performing monthly follow‑ups.
  • Ensuring proper management of documentation related to various projects using SharePoint sites and the Technical Services server.
  • Assisting in mentoring junior metallurgists and/or interns.
  • Supporting the metallurgy team based on various requests.
What You Need to Succeed

  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing.
  • Have experience working in mineral processing plants and/or engineering firms.

  • Have experience in project management, process development using laboratory work protocols, and multidisciplinary communication.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and provide mentorship.
  • Be willing to travel to the company’s project and operational sites in Canada, Finland, Australia, and Mexico.
  • Have strong communication skills in French (spoken and written). Knowledge of Spanish and Finnish is considered an asset.
