Job Summary

Sterile Processing Technician 2 (Weekends) at Baylor Scott & White Lake Pointe Medical Center, Rowlett, TX. Part‑time weekend shift.

Part‑time, weekends.

• Prepare rooms and organize instruments, equipment, treatment trays and supplies for specified departments.
• Clean and decontaminate instruments, containers and patient equipment using detergents and disinfectant solutions in accordance with regulatory standards and internal policies and procedures.
• Operate semi‑automatic and automatic sterilization equipment and washers.
• Inventories, orders, replenishes and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment and medical supplies for general supplies and surgical carts.
• Maintain and control inventory. Maintain applicable records and files.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, manufacturer and infection control practices.
• Collaborate in providing in‑service training.
• Serve as a resource and assist in training and mentoring level 1 Sterile Processing staff.

• Knowledge of equipment and instrument sterilization methods and procedures required.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Interpersonal and communications skills with ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
• Ability to comply with safety, environmental, manufacturer and infection control practices.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  1 year of experience in sterile processing or related field.
• Certifications:
  
  Must have one of the following:
  Certified Board Sterile Processing & Dist (CBSPD), Certified Reg Central Service Tech (CRCST), Certified Sterile Proc/Distr Tech (CSPDT), or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
