Position Summary
Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation) of patient care. Teaches, delegates, and supervises other nursing staff in the provision of care. Coordinates services with other members of the healthcare team to provide complex patient care. Practices within the scope of the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. This position requires working both days and nights and may float to different departments within the hospital, such as ICU, Med/Surg or ED.
Majority focus will be in House Supervision.
Reports to:
Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities Of The Position
- Provide clinical leadership
- Identify and communicate department needs and work toward resolution
- Mentor others to recognize changes in patient status and assist in managing complex/unpredictable patients
- Delegate care based on patient needs and staff competency
- Communicate with Manager and other healthcare providers in a timely and professional manner
- Performs other functions as required or assigned
Minimum Education
- Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited school is required
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
Certifications/Licenses
- Active and valid Registered Nurse License is required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required through American Heart Association upon hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire
Required Skills
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Minimum Work Experience
2-3 years of recent RN experience in a healthcare setting.
