Job Summary
Field Service Technician/Mechanic at Carolina Handling. Carolina Handling is a leading automation systems integrator specializing in turnkey solutions for warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturers. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing electro‑mechanical equipment, interacting customers, maintaining service vans, and performing scheduled maintenance to keep material handling systems operating efficiently.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and diagnose electro‑mechanical problems; install and repair equipment as needed.
- Interact directly with customers to understand concerns, recommend solutions and ensure satisfaction.
- Represent the company professionally, fostering goodwill with customers through superior service.
- Perform repairs efficiently, addressing issues promptly.
- Execute scheduled maintenance tasks on equipment for contracted customers, proactively addressing repairs identified during checks.
- Manage parts and supplies inventory in the service van to support repair and maintenance activities.
- Maintain the service van, ensuring it is properly stocked and functional.
- Adhere to customer safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing repairs at customer sites.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to support overall company operations and objectives.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1‑3 years of related education, training and experience in maintenance, repair or installation preferred.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics and electronic systems; ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
- Strong interpersonal communication, simplifying technical concepts for non‑technical customers.
- Problem‑solving: analyze root causes and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
- Attention to detail: accuracy in work completion to maintain equipment safety and efficiency.
- Time management: prioritize tasks efficiently and respond to customer requests promptly.
- Industry awareness: stay updated on industry advancements and product availability.
- Equipment operation: safely operate tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair.
- Physical stamina: perform manual labor, lift heavy equipment and work in diverse environments.
