Northrop Grumman is looking for a talented system engineer to pioneer how to safely design and operate the next generation ICBM weapon system. A Nuclear Surety engineer has the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are protected against peacetime and wartime threats at all times.

This role will be located in Roy, Utah and may offer a competitive relocation package.

A Nuclear Surety Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the GBSD program will be provided the opportunity to:

  • Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems
  • Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals
  • Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems
  • Use model based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design
  • Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience or PhD and 4 years of related experience
  • Operational Minuteman III Experience outlined on resume (civilian or military Combat Crew, Missile Maintenance, Numbered AF, MAJCOM) or heritage ICBM programs, specifically Ground
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, software engineering, or computer science
  • Experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements
  • Experience with tools/languages: DOORs, Cameo, Team Center, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol
  • Experience with programmable logic devices; i.e. FPGAs, ASICs
  • Experience with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107)
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of the Sentinel program

This position s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
