At The Smallpeice Trust, we believe engineering can change the world. And it starts with inspiring young people to imagine what’s possible.

We’re looking for a STEM Engagement Specialist to join our team and deliver exciting, hands‑on experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and open doors for young people aged 9–18.

If you love working with young people, enjoy being on the move and want your work to make a real impact, this could be your next step.

You’ll lead the delivery of our STEM programmes across the UK, bringing energy, organisation and creativity to everything you do.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering engaging, hands‑on STEM days in schools (typically 2–3 per week during term time)
  • Creating inspiring learning environments for groups of 60+ students
  • Planning and organising events from start to finish, including risk assessments and logistics
  • Working closely with teachers, volunteers, universities and partners to deliver high‑quality experiences
  • Collecting feedback and ensuring every event meets our high standards
  • Supporting the development of new STEM activities and resources

You’ll also help us create safe, inclusive spaces where every young person feels welcome and able to thrive.

About you:

We’re looking for someone who’s motivated, organised and ready to inspire.

  • A genuine passion for supporting and developing young people
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Confidence delivering sessions to large groups
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away when needed
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car
Bonus (but not essential):
  • Experience working with young people
  • Experience delivering or developing STEM or educational content
  • A degree in a STEM subject
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices

Safeguarding and wellbeing

We’re committed to keeping young people safe. This role requires:

  • An enhanced DBS check (including barred list) and PVG check
  • A proactive approach to safeguarding, health and safety, and student wellbeing
