Mechanical Design Engineer

Position: Mechanical Design Engineer (Permanent)
Vehicle Mechanical Design Engineer – Warwick (Hybrid) – £40,000–£55,000 DOE

VIQU is working with a well-established engineering company in the specialist vehicle sector to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex mechanical systems for heavy and specialist vehicles, taking ownership of designs from concept through to production within a supportive, hybrid-working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components and chassis systems from concept through to detailed design
Produce 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and BOMs in line with BS8888 standards
Support engineering problem-solving, validation, and verification activities
Communicate design intent to manufacturing, suppliers, and internal teams
Support product introduction and provide engineering support during production
Investigate field and service issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions
Contribute to engineering change management and continuous improvement activities
Work collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team
Key Requirements

HNC/HND or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering (essential); BEng/MEng (desirable)
Previous mechanical design experience within yellow goods, heavy goods, plant, machinery, or similar engineered products
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, stress, fatigue, and material selection
Experience using 3D CAD (Solid Edge preferred, or equivalent such as Solid Works or Creo)
Ability to produce accurate drawings and BOMs with good understanding of DFM/DFA
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding and pressed components
Experience working within engineering change management processes
Detail-oriented, practical, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
