Mechanical Engineer - Building Services
📍 Leamington Spa (Office-based with site visits)
I’m currently working with a well-established building services consultancy in Leamington Spa that is looking to bring in a Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients, and be involved across the full project lifecycle - from initial concept through to completion.
The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out site surveys and produce detailed reports
Design mechanical building services systems
Coordinate mechanical and electrical services across projects
Prepare design and performance specifications
Produce and review drawings and technical documentation
Support and manage CAD output for projects
Assist with tender documentation and procurement processes
Prepare budget cost estimates and support cost control
Size plant rooms and service distributions
Project & Client Involvement
Liaise directly with clients to develop briefs and provide technical advice
Work closely with architects, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders
Attend design team and site meetings
Review M&E tender submissions and contractor proposals
Monitor project progress, costs, and variations
Site & Delivery
Conduct site inspections, snagging, and quality checks
Respond to technical queries during construction
Supervise and monitor contractor performance
Witness testing and commissioning of installations
Support final accounts and project close-out activities
Additional Responsibilities
Assist in resolving technical, operational, and contractual issues
Provide support across multiple projects when required
Take a lead role on projects where appropriate
Contribute to team collaboration and knowledge sharing
Support business development through client engagement
What They’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
Strong experience within building services engineering (mechanical)
Solid technical design capability with attention to detail
Ability to manage workloads and meet project deadlines
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills - able to engage with clients and site teams
Proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and responsibility
Good understanding of project delivery and contractual processes
Ability to identify and mitigate design and installation risks
Technical Skills
Proficient with industry software such as Hevacomp (or similar)
Competent with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience working alongside CAD/Revit teams
