The RoleThe Test Operations Department is responsible for prototype development, validation, and testing of driveline and transmission systems. We are currently seeking a Test Facility Engineer to join our team at the Midlands Technical Centre in Leamington Spa, UK.
This role requires a strong foundation in facility management, test rig installations, and test methodologies. The successful candidate will ensure the test facility is fit for purpose on a day to day basis and lead installation activities across a diverse range of test projects, including automotive, aerospace, and marine applications.
Key Responsibilities- Lead test rig installation work packages, ensuring delivery against time, cost, and quality targets.
- Manage facility H&S equipment, processes and guidance, supporting a safety first culture
- Manage periodic facility maintenance schedule to ensure safety and legislative compliance.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for facility-related enquiries.
- Give technical guidance to engineers and technician teams.
- Responsible for test asset management including maintenance and calibration
- Support instrumentation requirements based on project objectives.
- Oversee component, system, transmission, driveline testing, including:
- Specialist instrumentation
- Prototype component manufacture
- Functional and durability test rigs
- An HND or degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or related discipline) is preferred.
- Strong grasp of fundamental engineering principles.
- Experience in muti-discipline, test facility supervision
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously, prioritising effectively to meet demanding project timing.
- Experience in mechanical installation of test rigs or fixtures.
- Broad engineering knowledge of power-train systems.
- Ability to coordinate and synthesize information from multiple engineering disciplines.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings.
- Skilled in fault-finding techniques used within a test facility
- Strong task management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills.
