Community Staff Nurse Health Visiting

You’ll work as part of the Health Visiting Team delivering preventative and supportive healthcare to children and families.

The role focuses on early identification of need, safeguarding and providing targeted support to vulnerable families under the supervision of a Health Visitor.

You’ll work in partnership with families, Early Years services, Children’s Centres and community organisations to promote health and wellbeing and improve outcomes for children.

• Supporting delivery of the Healthy Child Programme
• Completing Family Health Needs Assessments for mandated reviews
• Providing targeted interventions and ongoing support to vulnerable families
• Supporting infant feeding and parent–infant relationships in line with Baby Friendly Initiative standards
• Delivering behavioural and parenting support using the Solihull Foundation Approach and Five to Thrive
• Working with families requiring Early Help, Child in Need or Child Protection support (under supervision)
• Undertaking Looked After Child assessments as required
• Participating in Healthy Child drop‑in clinics and facilitating group sessions (including virtual platforms)
• Supporting delivery of targeted interventions and support packages for families
• Maintaining accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous clinical records
• Participating in safeguarding supervision, clinical supervision and appraisal processes
• Acting as a mentor for pre‑registration nursing students

• NMC registration in a field of nursing
• Experience working with children and families
• Understanding of child development
• Knowledge of safeguarding and public health policies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
• Full driving licence and access to a car
• Registered Children’s Nurse
• Experience working in a community or multi‑disciplinary environment
• Knowledge of behaviour change models
• Interest in progressing to SCPHN (Health Visiting)
