The General Ledger (GL) Accountant plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting by maintaining the integrity of the company’s general ledger and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial data.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP or IFRS accounting standards.
- Analyze financial statements and reports, identifying trends and variances.
- Manage accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset accounting.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience (GL, AP, or AR).
- Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS principles.
- Experience using ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset, and communication skills.
- CPA, CMA, or ACCA certification (or progress toward one) preferred.
