The primary role of a Senior Research Manager is to lead complex engagements for clients to operationalize customer centricity and drive business success. Responsibilities span product management, project execution, deliverable creation, storytelling, and client interaction. A Senior Research Manager should possess excellent project management skills, own engagement success, and demonstrate a desire to learn and grow.
ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Client Engagement:
- Project Manager on complex engagements independently, from start to finish while also acting as a consultant on simple to moderately complex studies
- Discuss complex business and research issues with clients independently
- Build rapport, respond quickly, and gain client trust through project management abilities
- Foster strong client loyalty via exceptional engagement execution and client service skills
- Create analysis plans for complex studies – find data that matters, make sense of information, and convey the story compellingly
- Apply storytelling process to create impactful deliverables and present clearly, concisely, and influence fully
- Generate additional business by building client trust through exceptional client service
- Understand clients’ businesses, objectives, and offer strategic suggestions and value‑added consulting
- Effectively oversee the financial goals and profitability of an engagement
Business Development:
- Independently develop simple to moderately complex proposals including scoping, pricing, and deliverable creation
- Support account goals for specific assigned accounts on the team (in collaboration with Account Strategists)
- Mentor junior level staff in proposal development
Management & Leadership:
- Successfully lead an engagement team and aid in the development of Human8 employees, setting expectations, delegating, and holding others accountable
- Provide internal training and train clients in various methodologies, offering research recommendations
- Lead/partner with others to raise work level, provide inspiration, set clear expectations, delegate appropriately, and hold others accountable
- Demonstrate genuine sensitivity, support, and encouragement for others with consistent professional maturity
- Demonstrates well‑rounded research skills – strong qualitative (communities) and quantitative skills
- Experience with research approaches for surveying/interviewing consumers, staff, B2B audiences, etc. including telephone, online, and mail methodologies
- Demonstrated engagement leadership skills including motivating team members, mentoring junior staff, collaboration skills, and initiative
- Client interface experience with proven ability to discuss and understand a client’s complex business and research objectives, building rapport and trusting relationships
