About usKingswood surgery is a training practice with 4 partners and 6 salaried GPs. All supported by a Paramedic Practitioner, a strong nursing team together with exceptional reception and administrative support teams. A forward-thinking practice serving approximately 11,300 patients with an overall CQC rating of GOOD. We utilise EMIS Web and Anima, providing a wide range of enhanced services.
Job responsibilitiesIn accordance with the practice timetable, asagreed the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a varietyof duties including:
Surgery consultations and emergencies
Telephone consultations and queries
Home visits.
Triaging using Anima
Compiling and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions including using electronic prescribing services
Prescribing in accordance with national guidelines
Referral letters (NHS and private)
Managing paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
Dealing with hospital correspondence
Checking and managing pathology and test results
Making professional autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation
Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous computer based consultation notes to agreed standards
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care
Complete care plans required for local enhanced services
Participate in enhanced services.
Other Responsibilities
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection,health and safety
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based practice
Excellent communication skills when dealing with adiverse patient population and workforce
Excellent ICT skills with the ability to adapt to fastpaced digital transformation
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
Contributing to the summarising of patient records and accurate clinical coding of patient data
Attending training and events organised by the practiceor other agencies, where appropriate.
Person Specification Skills and Knowledge- Eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS.
- To be able to demonstrate on-going personal and practice development.
- Able to discuss difficult areas sensitively and diplomatically with patients.
