Position Details

Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any individual who is at risk of redundancy will be given priority, provided they meet the essential criteria.

Kent & Medway Mental Health NHS Trust provides a liaison mental health assessment service to the Emergency Department and wards at the counties acute hospitals. It's a challenging and rewarding service to work in.

You will be a confident and experienced mental health clinician, who will work across the acute general hospital to provide mental health assessments, care, advice and training to both the Emergency Departments and in-patient wards.

The Pembury Liaison Psychiatry Service will be operating 24/7, 365 days a year. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work predominantly Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to travel to different sites across the Trust in a timely manner, + To provide operational leadership and expertise to a team of clinicians who often work alone, to ensure the timely delivery of a safe and effective assessment service to the general hospitals for people aged 18 and over referred with mental health problems, dementia and co‑morbid physical illness.
  • To maintain clinical expertise and leadership skills through regular patient contact (minimum requirement of 1 shift per week).
  • To ensure systems and processes exist to support staff performance in accordance with Trust objectives.
  • To report on and contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and audit of the performance and clinical practice of the liaison service.
  • To liaise with and work collaboratively with Acute Trust colleagues to promote the interface between acute and specialist inpatient and community services and enhance patient experience and recovery.
  • To coordinate a training programme to the general hospital workforce
