Civil Engineering
GE Vernova is bringing a critical capability in-house - and you'll be the person who builds it from the ground up. As our new Civils & Facilities Project Manager, you'll establish and lead the civil engineering and facilities management function for GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage (PC&S) North Europe business. This is a rare opportunity to shape something that doesn't yet exist: building the team, setting the direction, and owning both the day-to-day operation and the long-term vision for our Rugby site and beyond.
You'll be the go-to person for everything from major construction projects to ensuring our people have a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment to do their best work. You'll bring together diverse teams, internal and contracted, and translate complexity into reliable delivery.
- Lead civil, structural, and workspace projects from concept through to handover including surveys, design input, budgeting, contractor selection, delivery, commissioning, and sign-off.
- Discharge principal designer and principal contractor duties under the Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations 2015 for refurbishment, construction, and enabling works.
- Ensure all civil works are planned and executed with appropriate risk assessments, method statements, permits, and safe systems of work.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and appearance of manufacturing, test, warehouse, office, and external areas across the Rugby site.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) programmes for building systems including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning), electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and structural fabric.
- Ensure statutory compliance across electrical, gas, water, fire safety, and F-Gas systems maintaining all associated records, registers, and documentation.
- Develop and maintain asset condition surveys, planned preventative maintenance schedules, and long-term refurbishment plans for building fabric and civil infrastructure.
- Establish structural, roof, and drainage inspection regimes with defined frequencies and competent-person sign-off.
- Prepare, manage, and report on budgets for civil maintenance, building fabric, office improvements, and capital projects - identifying cost-saving and energy-efficiency opportunities.
- Build business cases to support facility investment and capital expenditure (Cap Ex) decisions.
- Supervise and develop a facilities and civils team, including soft services staff and contracted partners.
- Manage site security arrangements, access control, and visitor and contractor management including protection of restricted areas and sensitive manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate across production, engineering, and other teams to ensure delivery has minimal impact on operations.
- You know how to keep things moving, bring people with you, and build something that lasts.
- The ability to respond quickly and accurately to unplanned situations. Facilities rarely go wrong on schedule, and your instinct for triage and resolution keeps the business running.
- A track record of navigating complex environments where project delivery and live operations intersect.
- Experience working in facilities with older, legacy buildings where adaptability and problem-solving are daily requirements.
- A commercial mindset. Managing multi-million pound budgets, driving supplier value, and identifying where savings can be made without compromising quality.
- A data-informed approach to preventive maintenance, record-keeping, and compliance.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across a wide range of stakeholders.
- A clear risk management approach, particularly where civil scope integrates with defence or infrastructure projects.
- Significant experience in civil engineering, construction project management, or facilities management with demonstrable responsibility for end-to-end project delivery.
- Proven experience discharging CDM Regulations 2015 duties as principal designer or principal contractor.
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work Act, HSE (Health and Safety Executive) regulations, and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 standards.
- Proven experience managing contractor relationships, procurement processes, and site safety controls.
- Demonstrable experience…
