Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding Year 4 role where you can make a genuine impact?
This is a fantastic opportunity to support a child with additional needs within a nurturing, inclusive primary school. Long Term Futures is working in partnership with a welcoming, OFSTED‑rated ‘Good’ two‑form entry primary school in Rugby. The school is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support in a Year 4 classroom. This long‑term role offers stability, strong SEN support, and the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The RoleYou will be providing consistent 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil with ASD and additional learning needs, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the child remain engaged, regulated and accessing the KS2 curriculum. The pupil benefits from clear structure, routine and calm adult support throughout the school day.
Responsibilities- Providing 1:1 classroom support to help the pupil stay on task and access learning
- Delivering targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and emotional regulation
- Implementing strategies from the pupil's EHCP and behaviour support plan
- Supporting transitions, break times, and unstructured parts of the day
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
- Liaising closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals
- Has experience supporting children with ASD and additional needs
- Is confident working within KS2, ideally Year 4
- Can adapt learning and behaviour strategies to meet individual needs
- Is calm, patient and consistent in their approach
- Communicates effectively with staff and parents
- Holds a Level 2/3 qualification, TA certificate, or relevant degree (or has strong SEN experience)
- Two-form entry primary school
