About This Role PURPOSE

As a Member Of The Senior Leadership Team, to provide vision, strategic direction and leadership within the school to ensure that standards in behaviour, attendance and attainment are raised across the school. To ensure effective leadership and development of safeguarding and wellbeing. This includes working collaboratively with the Headteacher:

  • Assisting in the formulation of school improvement objectives;
  • Writing and implementing strategic action plans/policies to achieve the objectives set out in the SIP;
  • Leading on key areas of school improvement;
  • Monitoring progress towards the school’s aims and objectives in the SIP;
  • Reporting to the Governing Board, providing information on quality assurance and outcomes;
  • Being an inspirational and inclusive leader who subscribes unerringly to the ethos and values of the school, in its priorities and in its inter‑personal relationships;
  • Holding and articulating clear values and moral purpose, focusing on providing a high‑quality education for all pupils;
  • Demonstrating professionalism in personal behaviours, positive relationships and attitudes towards pupils, staff, parents/carers, governors and members of the local community;
  • Leading on establishing a safe, calm and well‑ordered environment for all pupils and staff;
  • Engaging with parents to ensure positive relationships are formed to get the best outcomes for students, liaising with them about behaviour, attendance and safeguarding issues;
  • Leading on the implementation and monitoring of the school’s key policies, as directed by the Head Teacher;
  • Supporting Heads of Year and Pastoral staff to provide a consistently high level of support and engagement for students and parents;
  • Monitoring poor behaviour and ensuring consistent action is taken to re‑educate students to enable them to be successful;
  • Ensuring consistent high quality in paper records and that the team acts in a GDPR‑complaint manner;
  • Inspiring and influencing others to understand the fundamental importance of education and the impact it has on young people’s lives;
  • Leading by example to foster a strong culture of equality and diversity;
  • Upholding the highest standards of professional and personal conduct;
  • Leading with integrity, compassion, creativity, resilience, and clarity, drawing on your own expertise and skills and the strengths of those around you;
  • Leading by example, providing an excellent role model to young people;
  • Leading on whole‑school strategies and policy areas, as directed by the Head Teacher.
Specific Duties (this is not an exhaustive list)
  • Ensuring students are fully supported with wrap‑around personal support plans where necessary;
  • Ensuring effective documentation and processes are followed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students;
  • Compliance with safeguarding policies;
  • Trend analysis of behaviour/safeguarding, ensuring key issues are resolved and fed into the PHSE programme;
  • Ensuring that all students make outstanding academic progress;
  • Ensuring that all students are safe, happy and have a strong attendance record;
  • Effectively leading and managing staff and deploying resources efficiently and effectively to ensure demonstrable impact;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of school improvement;
  • Taking the lead and working with the Pastoral team to ensure the success of pastoral and wellbeing policies and procedures, and ensuring that provision reflects the Christian life of the school;
