We are currently recruiting on behalf of a new provision seeking an enthusiastic, committed and resilient teacher to join our team and play a key role in establishing an exciting new specialist provision for young people with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a unique opportunity for either a qualified teacher or an exceptional unqualified teacher with relevant experience and the passion, skills and determination to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. The successful candidate will help shape and develop a nurturing, engaging and highly personalised learning environment from the ground up.
About the RoleThe provision is designed around practical, hands-on and outdoor learning experiences that engage students who may have struggled in more traditional educational settings. Learning will be highly personalised, relationship-based and focused on developing confidence, independence and essential life skills.
Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences for students with Autism and SEMH needs.
- Support the development of a brand-new specialist provision.
- Plan and deliver practical, project-based and outdoor learning opportunities.
- Build positive relationships with students, families and external professionals.
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to curriculum development and help establish the culture and ethos of the provision.
- Experience working with young people with Autism and/or SEMH needs.
- A strong commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
- Creativity, resilience and a solution-focused approach.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
- The ability to engage students through practical and experiential learning.
- Outdoor education, forest school, adventure learning or similar approaches.
- Design and Technology.
- Art and creative subjects.
- Vocational, practical or skills-based teaching.
- Alternative provision or specialist education settings.
