Mechanical Design Engineer
Rugby
Mon–Fri 8am–4pm
The RoleMy client are looking to expand their Naval Engineering team, by employing two permanent Mechanical Design Engineers. You will be supporting activities that contribute to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. In particular, turbine design and valves. You may also be involved in activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Due to the nature of my clients work with UK Defence customers, all candidates must be British Passport Holders.
MainResponsibilities
- Develop and design mechanical components and systems (turbines & valves).
- Design for manufacture and assembly, ensuring quality of design information supplied for manufacture.
- Prepare technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.
- Collaborate with cross–functional teams including:
Manufacturing, Engineering & Sourcing, as well as external sources to arrive at decisions. - Support prototyping, manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during design, production and testing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and company procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production.
- Write comprehensive engineering reports.
- Lead and execute design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ideally hold a Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineer preferred but not essential.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, CATIA V5 would be adventitious but not essential.
- Turbine experience would be preferred but not essential.
- Must have experience designing Valves, particularly experience in the sizing of components.
- Knowledge and appreciation of rotating equipment and rotor dynamics is desirable.
