Assistant Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and technically minded Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of engineering projects from initial concept through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical or mechanical background who is looking to progress into project management. You will work closely with experienced managers, gaining hands‑on experience while taking real ownership of project coordination, customer communication, and on‑site activities.

• Support the preparation of quotations, estimates, and project plans
• Assist in managing projects from scope through to completion, ensuring delivery against timelines and budgets
• Prepare project documentation including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
• Coordinate tooling, equipment, and resources for site and workshop activities
• Maintain communication with customers, including attending site visits and meetings
• Monitor project progress and highlight risks or variations
• Produce accurate and timely project reports
• Ensure high standards of quality, health & safety, and customer service

• BTEC or HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

• Motivated to develop a long‑term career in project management
• Organised with strong time‑management skills
• Confident communicator with a customer‑focused approach
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Commercially aware with an understanding of project costs (desirable)
• Enthusiastic, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
