We have a full-time vacancy for an experienced dyno test technician to test engines in our Froude G490 dynamometer equipped test cells. The main responsibilities in the role are the installation, testing and removal of engines. This requires a fundamental knowledge of engines, dyno instrumentation and control and data logging systems. You will also carry out routine maintenance of the 3 test cells.

In addition to these core responsibilities we are looking to improve our facilities and the successful candidate will play a leading role in defining, sourcing and managing the installation and commissioning of any upgrades.

To be successful in this role you will therefore need to be a technician with previous engine dyno testing experience and have multiple skills relating to engine testing in general, such as welding, machining and other fabrication work and be able to communicate well. Computer literacy is also vital. Previous engine build experience is not essential but would be a valuable skill in this role.

The Role
  • Installing engines on our test dynos and preparing them for test
  • Programming, setup and maintenance of dyno data logging and control system
  • Testing and calibrating engines under the supervision of an engineer
  • Maintaining dynos and test cells (electrical, water, oil and hydraulic systems, dyno calibration)
  • Dyno fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Design & fabrication or sourcing of engine installation fixtures and fittings
  • Design & build of engine electrical sub-assemblies such as sensors or engine wiring sub-looms
  • Occasional engine build work
Experience / Skills
  • Previous experience of engine dyno operation and maintenance is essential
  • Motorsport or low volume production experience preferred
  • Some knowledge of engine electronics, calibration of engine management systems and associated electrical components preferred
